12/5/09 – The Bottletree – Birmingham, Alabama

Unwed Sailor: Spring 2009 Tour
Yet another of the bands that I work for has mobilized for the spring! Unwed Sailor will be taking to the road throughout March and April and will finally be making their way back to the midwest with a stop at the Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines, which brings me much joy. I’ve just posted a full list of dates on the band’s official site, so go take a look! Their latest album, Little Wars, is really enjoyable, so I’m looking forward to hearing some songs off that when they make their way to Iowa.

While Santa bags up his burlap sacks with the sacrificed bodies of overeager shoppers, while young Timothy Shattercox lusts after the shimmering Webkinz with special edition porcupine quills (perfect for eye-gouging that lout Gregory next door), while Jack Frost is nipping at your nether-regions, and while the most bombastically lit nativity scene ever built is being crafted in a church basement to the tune of $100,000 (to remind us all that a homeless man is the reason for the season)…while all that is happening, Johnathon Ford and his music-kin are readying themselves for a winter romp to rival all romps prior. Have a look at the latest tour dates I’ve posted on their Web site for details…and happy October!

Prior to heading back into the studio to work on an album of live versions of old songs called History, Unwed Sailor will be touring the U.S. briefly this July. I’ve posted dates at the band’s official Web site.

As I previously mentioned, Unwed Sailor is currently on tour in support of their new album, Little Wars. I’ve been posting a few streaming tracks here over the past month, and here’s the latest. This one is called “The Garden” and it can be purchased along with the rest of the tracks on the album via iTunes or Unwed Sailor’s official store.

Here’s another track from Unwed Sailor’s new release, Little Wars. This is an old one, but still a pleasant ride from start to finish!

As I mentioned last month, Unwed Sailor has a new album out which, as usual, means that my Web duties increase. But as I’d been running around doing that stuff, I hadn’t actually stopped to listen to it until recently. I now think it’s my favorite album of theirs since The Faithful Anchor oh so many years ago. It’s not quite as structurally complex as that one, but Little Wars has a full slate of pleasant instrumentals, one of which is called “Aurora”, which you can listen to here. The band is also on tour right now, so if you like what you hear, take a look at the tour page on the official site to catch them live.

After a long, long waiting period, Unwed Sailor’s new album Little Wars is finally available for pre-order over at Burnt Toast Vinyl. The official release date is March 18th, and I have yet to receive my copy, but I imagine that soon enough I’ll be posting MP3 clips at the band’s official Web site.

After a surprising break from their touring streak, Unwed Sailor will be hitting the road again this March in support of their upcoming album, Little Wars. I’ve added a bunch of dates to the tour page on their site, so if you care to catch a bit of instrumental rock in the coming months, head over there and work a bit of ganderization upon those dates.
