Today, the Re-Splicery series comes to an end about a year and a half after I started it in the fall of 2006. This final video was a sort of bittersweet response to the previous ones, which were largely an examination of the problems in this world. Here’s a glimmer of hope, and I think it makes for a decent not to exit on. Now have a look at the fifth and final Re-Splicery video: A Weathered Dream Sequence.

No commentsTod and Bob: Episode 1 – “World-Famous Pilot”
As a brief break from a long run of fairly serious projects, I’ve begun creating a lo-fi animated series called Tod and Bob. The format is based on having a comic strip with timed panel changes and music. It’s actually based on a comic strip that Andrew Carter, Bradford Johnson and I all wrote many years ago when I was in high school, called Tom and Bob. Tom’s name has since been changed to “Tod” in order to avoid confusion with the “Tom and Bob” radio show. There’s about seven episodes in the pipeline right now, so be sure to check back for more.

Escape from Comatose Mansion is now up on YouTube, and actually in surprisingly high quality. Apparently YouTube accepts a new standard size of 640 x 480, which is perfect for this particular video. Anyway, now you can pass around the link to the fourth Re-Splicery video on YouTube, if you feel so inclined. (I suggest you should feel inclined.)

Finally, new music! Rob Ogden and I have been working hard on our new orchestral project since last summer, and now we’ve decided to put something online to show you. This first track may be familiar to any Cardboard Canary fans who attended live shows. It’s called “Spiders Savor a Succulent Fleshfeast”, and while it’s one of the least complex songs we have on the new album, it’s also one of the only tracks short enough to fit onto a streaming music site like PureVolume. I’m working on the Make-Believe Machines Web site too, though, so we eventually you should be able to stream several of our longer tracks. For now, head over to the Make-Believe Machines PureVolume site and give “Spiders Savor a Succulent Fleshfeast” a listen!

1 commentAn Umbrella: Three Songs on PureVolume
Before publishing the strenuously-crafted vocal songs we have in progress, we thought it would be nice to release three of the instrumental songs we produced last year. You can now listen to them sans animation at the An Umbrella PureVolume site.

Here’s yet another image-poem combo to add to the ever-growing Tracing the Seams catalogue. Head over to page two of the writings section to check it out.

New from Tracing the Seams this week is another poem-collage about human struggles. This one’s entitled “Bathing in the Grave” and can be seen on page two of the writing section at TracingtheSeams.com.
Robyn Miller: Escape from Comatose Mansion
The fourth and second-to-last entry in the Re-Splicery series is now online at the Re-Splicery site. For those of you who haven’t watched the previous videos, Re-Splicery is a mixture of old footage I’ve compiled with music from Myst-co-creator/composer Robyn Miller. Robyn originated the idea for this project I’ve been executing it as I’ve had time between all of the music-making. This entry ties together a few ideas from the previous videos, while also being the first narrative-based of the series. Now head over and watch Escape from Comatose Mansion!

Here’s a bit of visual art from my amazing girlfriend, Savanna Blazina. She’s quite the busy little beauty, but when she finds time to paint, the images turn out very nicely. This is her latest and it’s my favorite so far. For a corresponding piece of music, search for Roadside Monument’s “Crop Circles.” If I can manage to find where her other paintings disappeared to after the move, I’ll post some of them up too.
