September 30th, 2006 | Category: Tracing the Seams,Visual Art,Writing

I’ve posted two new writings by Wesley up on his recently launched Web site, www.TracingtheSeams.com. The pieces are entitled “Love, That Fanciful Idea” and “Our Roses Come with Thorns.” Head to Tracing the Seams and click into the Writings section to read them.

Tracing the Seams: “Planting the Shards of a Shattered Heart”

September 29th, 2006 | Category: Tracing the Seams,Visual Art,Writing

Wesley’s got another piece of combined writing and imagery to read over at Tracing the Seams. Meanwhile, I’m working on an MPEG version of the An Umbrella intro animation (which is actually far more painstaking than it sounds), and writing articles for the popular online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, along with bits and pieces of music I plan to stitch together very soon here.

General: Projects Update

September 17th, 2006 | Category: General News

For those of you who might have wondered why there was a sudden, giant black hole in the line of news posts, this is what’s going on: As I mentioned in an earlier post, a few months ago, I’ve been wanting to leave this Cardboard Canary site behind as a time capsule for the band’s active time together, and move my own project information into a new Web site. It seems appropriate, since Cardboard Canary is very much in my past, and the work I’m doing now is quite different. So, I’ve been working on a pretty simple interface for a new site, along with developing new Grimfeather and non-Grimfeather music. I’m also preparing for a location change within the next few months, which should place me in close proximity to (Grimfeather pianist and ex-Cardboard Canary guitarist) Josh Schryver. We are planning to do a great deal of writing and recording together, and have already put together a few small projects. It sounds like it’s going to be sweeter than a big of six plump wretches in a washing machine when it happens. Also, Wesley and I are working on a photos section for Tracing the Seams. Wesley seems to be a really great photographer (as you might be able to tell from some of the images that are already up on the site), so I think the photos section will be a fantastic thing. This is all mostly to say that a lot of things are in progress right now, and I felt it might be good to poke my head out of the workhouse and get some air. And air induces talking, or writing. And that’s what I’ve just done, sirs and ma’ams. That’s what I’ve just done.

Re-Splicery: Banner

September 16th, 2006 | Category: Video

This is a really brief news tidbit, but in case any of you have your own Web sites and would like a handy way to link to the Re-Splicery project, I just created a banner that Robyn Miller is using on his Tinselman blog. Here it is:

Re-Splicery

If you feel like using this graphic on your page (and I’d certainly appreciate it!), just link to http://www.shriekingtree.com/re-splicery.html. If you have any questions about this, feel free to e-mail me.

#79. Las Vegas Full Band Show

September 14th, 2006 | Category: Cardboard Canary

Our friends Erik and Andy filled in on guitar and drums for this brief set of mostly older material. (9-14-03)

1. Glee
2. The Loon
3. Agape
4. Opaque Windows
5. Worn
6. Home (Switchfoot cover)

–daily ramble (sun, september 14) 212–

INTERESTING: I have now arrived in Las Vegas, along with comrades Blake and Erik Brown. On the drive out, the small winged creature I have affectionately dubbed “the wretch” attacked me at night in downtown Denver traffic. Upon reaching the desert, he began vomitting because of the heat, and tried to cram his entire body into his water basket. Foolish wretch.
