MacUpdate: Find Useful Tools
I don’t usually recommend a whole lot of stuff on this site, but I figured since the focus of this Web site has moved from purely music to music/video/Web design, this deserves to be mentioned. An excellent tool that I have used to find many of the programs that I use regularly in my design tasks is a Web site called MacUpdate (www.macupdate.com). If you’re a designer, or just a regular Mac user, I suggest going there and searching around for any sort of program you’ve been looking for. From basic maintence tools like Onyx, to Web design applications like xScope and Transmit, there’s some very useful stuff to be found.

Here’s another photo from an in-progress Web site for poetry, photography, and visual art.

Tracing the Seams: “In Those Eyes”
Today’s entry in my sneak-peek preview extravaganza of Wesley’s upcoming site is the photograph soon to be joined by a poem called “In Those Eyes.” Gaze upon it.

Tracing the Seams: “After the Flush”
Here’s another photo from Wesley’s upcoming site. This image will soon be paired with the poem, “After the Flush” in his directory of writings.

Unwed Sailor: Even More Touring
Unwed Sailor must be addicted to touring or something. I just added a bunch of new dates to their site, including one at the Vaudville Mews in Des Moines, IA and one with The Advantage in Denver, both for August. Check out the official site for more details.

Tracing the Seams: “A Slice”
Here’s a quick look at a photograph from one of the many writing-image combos he’s planning for his upcoming Web site. This image provides the backdrop for a poem called “A Slice”, which you’ll be able to check out as soon as the site launches.

Re-Splicery: Catherine’s Freedom
I recently completed editing work on a music video for Robyn Miller’s instrumental composition, “Catherine’s Freedom.” The track was originally written for the video game Riven (sequel to Myst), but Robyn was hoping to have people experience the music in a new context, and this is certainly a departure from the video game. Robyn gave me some broad instructions, and I edited together some historic footage to make this. My brother Wesley was also a huge help in gathering the imagery to make this happen. It is themed on the continuous development of communication throughout strikingly different events in history. The video is available to stream right here. If you like what you hear, you should consider purchasing Robyn’s excellent soundtrack, which you can find at Amazon.com.

Bored? Take a look at the second Web site I ever created, back in 1998. You might find the comics in the News section to be particularly, eh…something.

Grimfeather: New Songs, Revisions
This weekend, I finished work on the Web site for Embassy Glass, and am looking ahead to the new projects I mentioned in my last entry. One that I hadn’t mentioned, however, was the recording of two new Grimfeather songs that we performed on tour – “Newer Vogue” and “A Mood of Solitude”. Although I’d made broad mention of recording them once the tour was over, it looks as though the recording process will begin in August. Erik has also passed on a demo of his latest song to the rest of the group, so a new song is also in the works.
A crippled bird I found while touring with Grimfeather in Texas.

Here’s another recent addition to the Shrieking Tree Web Factory site: A photo gallery containing twelve images I’ve snapped over the past two years. I also have two new business projects I’m creating Web sites for – One is a glass manufacturing company called Zetian Systems, located in China; the other one is a glass installation company called Embassy Glass, which dwells in Las Vegas, Nevada (where I’m currently living). Amidst those projects, I am also working on a Web site for my brother Wesley, who is, in my opinion, an amazing photographer. A music video for another artist is also in the works. Busy, busy, busy.
I shot this photo while doing on-site photography for Embassy Glass’s installation projects.
