Grimfeather Progress
Erik and I just got done with another busy weekend of recording. This time, the focus was on "Candlesmoke" and "Phyllis," which both got guitar and vocals re-recorded with the new microphone, making for a drastic improvement over the old versions. At this point, just about every one of the songs has been re-recorded with the new equipment, and we only have one or two songs left to finish up writing on before the album is complete!

The house has been rather noisy lately, so I haven’t risked recording any new acoustic intruments or voice, however I’m taking the opportunity to plow away at my Web workload. I just finished off a site for steel guitar instructor named Bill Mayville, and now I’ve figured, “Hey, I do all these other Web sites that are animated and look pretty nice, but the Shrieking Tree site is a rather foul sight for potential customers / onlookers.” Hence, I’ve decided to make a simple animated interface for it which will hopefully be done this week.

Illness has been plaguing Erik and I the past few weeks, so not a lot has been accomplished on the Grimfeather material. However, we are making connections with other musicians, trying to find the right pieces to fill in the gaps of our songs. One of the bands I’ve recently connected with is Snailhuntr, which makes some very interesting music. I plan on gradually making a Web site for them as time allows. Although we had planned to work on various An Umbrella subjects this past weekend, my laptop died completely, and I haven’t been able to repair it yet. We’ve been hitting roadblocks, but I trust that all of these projects will come through wonderfully in time. I’m sorry that we haven’t been able to offer anything new and incredibly exciting over the past couple of months, but I appreciate those who continue to read and e-mail me, starting good conversations.
Stallions Versus Unicorns
Just a quick note: Bradford Johnson is in a new band called Stallions Versus Unicorns with a couple of guys from Valet. No official site or MP3s yet, but I’ll let you know when it happens.

After waiting several months for the materials to complete the official site in the band’s absence, I have finally published the new low-bandwidth Unwed Sailor Web site, with an online store where you can purchase four of their albums, if you’d like. If you decide to snatch one up, I highly recommend The Faithful Anchor – it’s my favorite of the four.
