Dear Apartment 116…
Well, a rather amusing event occured whilest I was off in Vegas last week, which I thought I would share with you. Apparently, one of our neighbors thought we were having a band practice around 1:00 AM, although Blake and Erik were fast asleep. Eventually Erik awoke and discovered that my possessed CD player had decided to turn itself on and blare music at a wretchedly loud volume. Now if only they knew what a live band sounds like during practice! Tsk, tsk…
No commentsTimberline
As of last night we found out that we will be playing at a battle of the bands at Timberline campus in Des Moines tonight (Monday) at 8:00 PM. We don’t really know anything about how long we’re going to play or admission, but we beg that you head over to Timberline (which is where Des Moines Christian school plays their basketball games) somewhere along Douglas Av. and watch us compete! We might play a new one for the first time tonight, so if you find it, you might get a nice surprise…
42. TIMBERLINE SHOW
We played at the Timberline campus at last minute’s notice. I imagine it would have been a wise decision to have turned down the offer we received the night before, seeing as though we were quite out of practice, but the debut of “Opaque Windows” went well. We played a very short set. (10-14-02)
Set List:
1. Homeward Bound
2. False Verdict
3. Glee
4. Floating at 35 Miles Up
5. Opaque Windows
6. The Loon
Opaque and Wretched
The band took some big steps this weekend during practice, and two new songs are now in the works for performance: “Opaque Windows,” and “This Wretched Fiasco,” the lyrics to which have now been posted in (of course) the Lyrics section. “Opaque Windows” will likely debut at one of the next few shows, so if you make it you’ll get to hear something new! Also, I posted a lovely photo from our most recent show (to your right) taken by our dear friend/fan Savanna. You can see a larger version of this in the Pics section. In related news, I (Justin) have been practicing a slew of original material with Erik Brown for a new band called Grand Ruin, which I’m quite excited about. I’ll also be posting more information regarding this band in the future, in case you’d care to give it a listen sometime.
