Live Album
A basket of good fortune has apparently been dropped upon the doorstep of the canaries who are made of cardboard… On August 11, we will be recording live material for possible use on a CD! And one of the fellows manning the mixer has mixed several popular acts around the US, such as Eve 6 and Destiny’s Child…Should be quite fun! Gives you something to look forward to…this show will also feature extra instrumentation, such as violin and possibly cello and piano. Check the Shows section for more details…

Today we laid down musical tracks for the new versions of “Love Sucks,” “I Told You So,” “Homeward Bound,” “The Loon,” “Glee,” and “You Complete Me.” We decided to completely re-record them from their previous versions on completely new equipment (with the exception of my bass…heh, heh). Anyhow, they sound ten times better now, and we hope to go do some vocals tomorrow. SongSmythe Studios rocks! Look out for some new downloads coming next week…

To cardcan and cardcan inc.,
I forgot to call about the open air shelter but you can rest assured as a sheep in a blanket that I will not faill you thrice. Or again, unless I forget. My band is practicing at this very minute and in this humidity I can’t think straight. Well to conclude things I might first be hastened to introduce the fact that I failed and the body that I’ll recover and the conclusion that we’ll see. Hope to see you lathered soon.

Raccoon River Anniversary
We will be returning to Raccoon River Beach to play a sort of anniversary show, in celebration of the first show we ever played as a three-piece band, last year on July 23. Look in the Shows section for details. Chances are, our buddies Sophia will be playing with us!

Recording has been coming along quite nicely, and you can hear it for yourself in the Audio section or at MP3.com. We’d very much enjoy hearing what you think of our first demo from the new studio, “Homeward Bound.” Soon to be available for listening is “The Loon,” so stay tuned kiddos… Also, new shirts are in the process of being made, themed after the song “Andy.” You should be able to snag one by mail order sometime next week, or at the next show…

Here’s some slight excitement: Last weekend, Cardboard Canary played at the Battle of the Bands at The Back Door against seven other bands and won! So you may all rejoice in your own jovial ways, either making an obnoxious noise, or downloading a song from our MP3.com site…but not by watching any film or television show involving Bob Sagat, because he is the escence of evil, and we loathe him. Our friends Sophia are competing the Frank’s House of Rock Battle of the Bands tonight. Go check them out at 8:30 tonight!
